Membership Information

The Federation of BC Woodlot Associations is a non-profit society promoting the establishment and development of Woodlot licenses and the practice of small scale forestry in British Columbia. The Federation represents 27 Woodlot Associations whose membership includes woodlot licensees and private landowners in BC in a united effort to achieve exemplary forest and natural resource management.

All potential members are encouraged to join and be involved with their local woodlot association. Please contact your local woodlot association for membership information.

There are also several opportunities to join the Federation of BC Woodlot Associations at the provincial level. There are three categories of membership that an individual may wish to pursue if he/she is not a member of a woodlot association.

Associate Member*: Designed for groups, organizations or other societies, etc. who wish to be involved with the Federation in a relatively active manner. Cost is $150.

Supporting Member: Anyone or any group etc. that supports the Federation but does not wish to become actively involved with it. A supporting member provides support to the Federation financially or by other means with an equivalent dollar value of at least $100.

Life Membership Policy Approved The Federation Executive Committee recently approved a Life Membership Policy. The policy is intended as a guide and will hopefully encourage people to nominate worthy individuals. It outlines a simple process to follow as discusses some of the criteria that will used to evaluate any nominations.

Life membership is an honorary designation that entitles the holder to free membership in the Federation with all rights of membership except executive voting privileges.

Over the years, the Federation has only bestowed the honor of life membership on Al Waters and Peter Sanders. There are obviously other worthy individuals who have excelled in helping to build an association &/or the Federation, WL program growth & advancement, leadership, extension or other actions that served the Federation or its causes in an exemplary manner. If you know someone who you believe is worthy of a life membership, please review the policy and submit your nomination.

School Trip to WoodlotThe Federation of BC Woodlot Associations is proud to support young people who are trying to get a post-secondary education in a forestry-related discipline. Since 2001, the Federation has annually awarded a scholarship to a young person attending a post-secondary institution. Preference is given to a student entering a forestry-related program and awards are based on the evaluation of an essay submitted by applicants. The scholarship is funded by monies raised each year at the Federation’s Annual General Meeting via a silent auction of items donated by woodlot associations, licensees and private forest landowners.
