Approved Projects

The Agroforestry Management Committee in partnership with industry stakeholders in the Agroforestry Initiative have implemented innovative agroforestry projects that meet the strategies and goals of the Agroforestry Strategic Plan.

Projects are divided into three main sections; Demonstration, Technology Transfer, and AMC Driven. Presently applications from third party proponents are approved in either the Demonstration or Technology Transfer area. Some projects which are specific to Strategic Plan initiatives are implemented by the Agroforestry Management Committee (AMC) and these are listed as AMC Driven.

Summaries of approved projects with agreements are listed under each appropriate Section heading.

AMC DRIVEN PROJECT

Agroforestry Assessment Framework

This project consisted of the development of a preliminary framework for cost-benefit evaluation (fiscal, social, environmental) of agroforestry systems. The preliminary framework provides a tool for producers to consider or rank the economic, environmental and social perception costs and gains of implementing agroforestry systems as compared with traditional production systems. It will also provide the Agroforestry Management Committee with a baseline to aid in formalizing expectations and working arrangements for the operational demonstration trials.

The draft of the framework was completed in June 2004 and will be tested by a number of the agroforestry demonstration projects in 2005.
