Agroforestry Information Sessions

The Agroforestry Initiative provided project funding to the Chilliwack Agricultural Commission to support the delivery of a provincial conference in March 2004. The intent of the conference ( "Farm Gate. What's Next?" ) was to provide education and build awareness within the agricultural community (and the larger consuming community ) about products and practices which can supplement and augment production thereby aiding diversification and enhancing sustainability. The conference brought together producers, operators, processors, industry representatives, government representatives and the public from across British Columbia , creating a 'common-ground' forum for information dissemination, discussion and innovation.

The Agroforestry Industry Development Initiative has also sponsored information sessions held in conjunction with the Horticulture Growers Short Course at the Pacific Agriculture Show in Abbotsford (2004 and 2005) as well as the New Opportunities in Agriculture workshops held in Smithers and Vanderhoof (March 2005).

Contact the Agroforestry Initiative Facilitator (agroforestry@uniserve.com) if you would like an agroforestry presentation or information session in conjunction with your group meeting or training.
